The Property Institute are a professional body for residential property managers in England, Scotland, and Wales. Formed by the merger of ARMA and IRPM, they stand as a trusted and credible voice, committed to driving standards in the sector to make a positive difference for its members, clients, and residents.
WHY USe A Property institute Member?

It’s worth remembering that the residential leaseholder sector is unregulated. Anyone can set up as managing agent and start service charges without the relevant qualifications or experience. The Property Institute accredited managing agents must meet The Property Institute Charter & Standards, a bespoke set of professional standards aimed at consumer protection and best practice in all areas of residential long leasehold management.

As a member of The Property Institute we comply with these standards, so by appointing an acredited agent to manage your property you can have peace of mind that we conform to high standards and are independently regulated. 

By using a Property Institute accredited managing agent you can be confident that:

  • They have the right professional experience: every member must prove they have at least two years’ residential management experience

  • Your service charge money is being held legally and safely: all members must demonstrate they hold service charge monies in trust as required by law

  • The member has Professional Indemnity Insurance: this covers you against inadequate advice and negligence relating to a member

  • Your agent is committed to and bound by professional standards: all Property Institute agents must comply with the RICS Service Charge Residential Management Code. This defines best practice in the sector. If they do not follow the Code, they could be subject to disciplinary action
