Dartmoor National Park, Not Teignbridge, Decides Planning
Buckfastleigh is inside Dartmoor National Park, so the National Park Authority is the planning authority. An application is decided against the Dartmoor Local Plan 2018 to 2036, adopted on 3 December 2021, with a replacement plan for 2026 to 2044 in preparation. Building control is still Teignbridge. Neighbouring Bovey Tracey, four miles away, sits outside the boundary and is decided by Teignbridge on a different plan entirely. For a block, planning consent and building regulations approval come from two different bodies, so where works need both, each has to be in place before they start.
